In this cultural trip to Bilbao we will begin with a guided tour through the historic center of the city, and thus have a first contact with its history. We will continue with the most contemporary Bilbao, the Bilbao that has been reborn, after its most industrial past, to become a benchmark for modernity, design, architecture and art: the city that has been named the best European city in 2018.
For this we will make a guided tour around the Guggenheim Museum, where we will see several examples of this development such as: the Zubizuri Bridge, the Guggenheim Museum itself, the sculptures Mama by Louise Bourgeois and Puppy by Jeff Koons, the Iberdrola Tower, the auditorium of the UPV and the library of the University of Deusto.
Taking advantage of the occasion we will visit the Vizcaya Bridge, a suspension bridge declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, walking along its footbridge while we know its history and take a look from above to the city. The visit will allow us to know Portugalete. And we will do it by means of a guided tour, to know the patrimonial wealth, from medieval times until the Industrial Revolution, of Portugalete.
And before returning to Madrid we will visit one of the pleasant surprises that Bilbao offers its visitors, we refer to the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao, which houses an excellent collection of works of art from the 12th century to the present. We will focus on the paintings of the Spanish school, paying special attention to the Basque artists present, of which this museum has the most important collection.
In short, a cultural trip to Bilbao where tradition and modernity blend with each step we take. An excellent opportunity to see how art can transform a city. Avant-garde art and architecture in a single landscape.
A perfect plan to enjoy with family and friends!
